I am looking to add split charging to a portable power pack as in the example below. I want to be able to quickly disconnect the battery box and remove it from the vehicle.

Can I just get a basic system similar to this, shorten and swap cables around as necessary, and add a pair of red 50A couplers, or am I missing something crucial?

I personally can't see any reason why that won't work, an Anderson plug like in picture 1 will be fine

Yea will be fine with an Anderson plug you can get rubber “boots” to cover the ends when they are disconnected

Thanks both, I'll get cracking. This is not my area but I'm getting into it.

I have this setup with a different relay for a second battery in the back and it works fine.
