The service indicator now comes on when starting. It wasn't long ago that it was serviced (Greg @ Land Cruisers Overland) and I assume that he forgot to re-set it. As he ain't around anymore, is this something that an idiot can do, or do I need to take it to Mr T? (There are no local LC specialists that I know of)

I may be able to help with my toyota diagnostic tool. Happy to give it a go if you want as i am localish to you

You have a service light?

I only have a timing belt light which is a simple procedure to reset with various buttons. Can't find the post now though.

That would be great, thanks! Please send me a pm with best days/times to suit you, and I'll pop up.

Yup, its a spanner under the fuel gauge. Technically its not a 'service' light, but a 'Change engine oil and filter' light. It was service by Greg in Jan and has only done 4000 miles since then, so I gues that it was not re-set at the time.

Interesting. My 04 LC4 has no such light. I have no bells and whistles :violin:

This is how I do mine. Turn the ignition key to ON and then set trip meter to display trip A. Turn the key to the OFF (Lock) position. Push and hold down the trip meter reset knob and turn the ignition key to the ON position, (keeping trip button down), but do not start the engine. After a few seconds release the trip button and the trip meter should display "000000". Turn ignition off. The system is now reset and the "spanner" light should not stay on.

Hope this helps.

Of course.... so simple... so obvious... why didn't I think of that???

Seriously though, that's a great help  and might save me a trip to see Warren in Maidenhead. I'll give it a try...
