Hey all,

Apologies to Karl first.

I took the 5 wheels to my local friend, who knocked the tyres off the rims for £2.00 a wheel.

Then I put the 5 bare rims, and the 5 tyres into the back of the Land Cruiser and trundled off to Chicago Coatings.

Address:
Manchester Rd,
Mossley,
Ashton-under-Lyne,
Lancashire
OL5 9QA,

When I arrived they had loads of rims, of dozens of different cars, trucks, and lorries !! etc.

I have asked for them to be silver, but on reflection, I might nip back there tomorrow, and look at a dark grey.

What other colours, have folk had their wheels done?

£25 a wheel for 17 inch,
£20 a wheel for 16 inch.

Got matt black for the steels and silver for the alloys.

I initially wanted bright silver, then thought, Hmmmm, what about gloss black or gunmetal grey or maybe even gold! but went with silver in the end and very happy with them.

Thanks all,

Most of the wheels I seen in his powder place were silver.

He was showing me a very nice set of Ford Rostyle rims, from about early 1970's.

Looked as new.

May be I will just stay with the silver choice.

Don't have pictures of the ones Marius had done but they are stunning. Base colour but then had shadow highlights in the ermm, cut out hole bits. Like eye liner. Really really chic.

Wouldn't have thought you were the type to be into eye liner Chris....

Hey don't knock it til you've tried it.

I went with the silver, and picked them up this afternoon, Friday.

I am stuck for words.
They are fantastic.

Silver really is the colour to go for.

Amazing smooth glass like finish.

Better than new I would say.

Makes no difference to me.

If someone buys a set of rims sends wheels there coats them then has them sent back if they do that. or drives there drops them then picks them up,then 20plus the dreaded per wheel it works out cheaper buying from me :icon-wink:

There's nowt wrong with your wheels Karl, god knows how many I have had and I've always been happy:icon-biggrin:.

Why powder coat rather than paint though? Having done both, I'm not a fan of powder - any chips and the rust just works away under the coating...

Short of hot dip galvanizing, rust will work away under any coating if it's chipped off. The benefit of powder coating , when done correctly, is it's tougher than just painting and will resist chips in the first place. JMO
