Hi All,

I just bought one nice but in urgent need of restoration, 1984 FJ40 (blue).

I am new with this model so in need of advise.

I have managed to find one FJ45 (white) which has a bit less corrosion than my car.

I am wondering if front ends are the same, i.e. can I use fenders, hood, panels, floors from FJ45?

Thank you and with best regards,

George

Nice... I like both! Personally I would say they are the same, but that is with no solid reasoning I just think they are. Someone will soon tell you fact.

You not tempted to do up the 45 instead... How many of these things are around where you are?

Hi yes front end will fit and odd bits love the fj 45 and the fj 40 I have a fj45 pick up and a fj40 with 2H Engines in from tonytoyota . Good like.

Hi George,
Welcome, there are a few of us on here with 40 series trucks.
Your 40/45 quandry... the front panels back to the B post will fit providing the 45 is post '75 (looks as if it is). The floor pan is not interchangable. The sills on the 45 look shot and there is a company in Germany that make replica panels, including wings and sills. I'll try and dig their name out.

It maybe worth considering keeping both in tact... 45s are rare (ish) as are good 40s. Thinking about the 45, I think, the German company do front panels too.

the floor panels should be repairable with plates welded in otherwise it's a new tub... much money. Most 40 series trucks suffer in this way, so a good quality mig welded maybe your way forward.

I'll look out the German company info over the weekend.

Hope this helps

Regards

Hi George,
The german company can be found at:
http://autoblechteile.de/Toyota/Landcruiser-FJ/BJ-40-43:::8_62.html

Perhaps I should clarify about the floorpan: The bulkhead will fit and the front part of the floorpan should although the gearbox shroud will probably be different. But once you get to the first crossmember (in the body), that's it, from there back it is completely different.

Other European companies that do/may do body parts are:

i've not had any dealings with them but this may save you a load of futile searching.

Hope it helps
