Flare options

:(

thanks for looking for me.

I quite like the bolt-on ones but swmbo prefers the factory look so i won't be going down the China route. With flares the two issues are the material and the fixing. I'll chase Piranha to see what they are doing though as they don't have them on their website but i saw those flares last October on Danny's truck so they must have made more than two by now...

Ben - have a look at the link in my first post - they have a number of 70 series flares but doesn't look like yours is there - but you could ask them as you are moving there.
I'm still looking [but slowly as it is only a flesh wound ;) ] - i found this company http://www.landcruiseradventure.nl/ which seems to have flares [best viewed via translator] http://www.landcruiseradventure.nl/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=63 and the pound is ok against the euro so it may be worth checking further when i get time.

And as a thread hijack check out the Toyota Megacruiser http://www.landcruiseradventure.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=36&Itemid=39

Thanks Simon i will have a look.

going to have to do something when i get it over there i think, so i can get it on the road.

Piranha have replied to me:

We have the flares built here in Melbourne Aust and they currently sell for A$1200 + freight. As they are a pre production prototype at the moment they do take some determination and skill to install. They need to be sanded a bit to meet the final contours of the guards. Apart from that they are a great looking practical long wearing flare. If you are interested let me know and I can send some more pictures.

about £765 quid plus freight. Let me know if anybody is still interested as we could get Piranha to work directly with us for a group buy I guess. Given they are pre-production it may be worth waiting. I will need to qualify if they have removed GST [aussie vat] which may take it down a bit.

Still seems expensive but I'm guessing they are well under OEM.........possibly superior material too [and thinner profile]

Good work there Simon, but not what I am looking for. You could get a whole car for that and take the arches off and sell the car!

The Chinese ones are looking favourable for me at the second. They bolt on, look OK and are cheap.

TFF12 on Simon's first link will fit our 70s (The Aussies call the SWB 70s a Bundera). Trouble is they are still fiberglass to would rip off and/or break the same as the originals.
