God damn immobiliser !!!!

The seal around my sun roof to body is so tight when it closes I can't see how a lot of water can get in.

A leaking windscreen can make a real mess if left unchecked. My carpet was wet behind the passenger seat.where the main loom runs front to back had about an inch of water sloshing about. The paint seems to go soft and rust soon sets in.

Mine too Frank, that's the other side of the mystery.

There's no tell tale wind noise either, but I know when the tube is clear, there's no leaks either.

Rubbish must be coming UP the drain tubes Clive :icon-biggrin:.

It makes you wonder sometimes Frank.

I run the sunroof back occasionally and to see the crap in the channels is quite surprising. Pine needles, leaf debris and whatever, yet when closed it seals as tight as you could imagine possible.

Always a mystery as to how all that stuff gets in there. I never offroad with it open, too much mud would rain down on me

ARHHHHHH !!!!! The leak is back  only a very very small droplet so I guess we found out it was the screen that was leaking, so next step take screen out and replace with new screen and seal and look to see if any body work repairs are needed. But on a good note, put new rotors and pads on today and sent cruiser to auto box specialist just to give it a check over before I start work on vehicle ready for Portugal trip :icon-biggrin:

:angry-cussingblack: How bloody annoying that must be...

Still, as you say, you've located the problem and you have a plan, go for it!

Ya right there clive !!! but like you said, its located and now I can go about sorting it. im glad its the window, starcruiser said it would be, im guessing the window will be a easier fix than if it was coming in through the bulk head.

Sorry it's leaking again Alex, [emoji20] I thought you'd beaten the odds and fixed it. I really had my fingers crossed there.

Keep driving it, put some paper towel in the corner where it's weeping. It'll be good for, well I had mine in there three years I think, swapping it every day. You never know, it might get hit by a stone. Drive behind some gravel trucks, that sort of thing. [emoji6]

so did I !! lol at least we know it is the screen. think I will go with your idea, I be in front of local magistrate up for stalking the local quarry lorries by the end of the month lol

If you want it done under insurance tap it with a nail punch.. trouble is it will probably leak more once they have finished with it.

it looks like it was replaced not so long ago, I guess that's why it leaks, I do it myself next time with some super sticky sticky !!:icon-biggrin:

It's a shame it's delaminated, if it weren't for that I'd say pull it out and refit it. Even if you get one fitted it's preferable to refit yourself IMO. With the sealant I've linked to, I would say that even an old rubber would be fine. They're not cheap. The greatest problem is the screens potentially being too small. I think I made a note of the dimensions and asked the question on here as to whether anyone had an idea of the OEM screen dimensions but I don't remember anything coming back.

I will see if I can source a screen and fit myself as you not the only one who says that's the best way forward. I ordered the sealant you recommended, in the mean time I will see what info I can find on screen sizes. Sent truck to auot gearbox specialist yesterday, and now its snowing hard, sods law eh lol !!!

I made enquiries at the local screen replacement place and they openly admitted that although I would be able to choose different tints and graduated tint and other options, all of their replacements for my truck would be sub-standard compared with the original screen (they confirmed mine was original).

They said it will be thinner glass, more likely to crack and so forth, and highly unlikely to last 20 years like the old one. My old screen has taken on a pitted surface, which in bright sunlight or in snowy/sunny conditions (common here in winter) gives glare problems.

They don't do a polishing service either, so I'm still on the hunt for a polisher....

I have got a meguiars v2 polisher which was a good buy Clive and had some success at reducing deep scratches in my side window using halfords paint cutting compound .

Jewellers rouge I believe is the thing to use. And lots of patience.
