HDJ80 - Winch Bumper

Airbag sensor is a deceleration sensor near the center console inside the cabin. There are no sensors anywhere near the bumper. As it works on deceleration, it is reasonable to assume that fitting an ARB bumper will not disrupt airbag operation. This topic has been pretty much done to death on ih8mud with the consensus being there are no known adverse effects of fitting an ARB or similar to an airbag equipped 80.

Oh right Lorin i was only guessing , if its just a deceleration sensor then airbags shouldn't be effected with or without any bumper at all , its probably just a magnetic switch that will flip when enough g-force is applied . Stop dead and the switch flips activating airbags . Makes sense for a car designed to take some rough and tumble .

Cheers Lorin. Good work.

Yup - its a module about 6" x 3" under the centre console - thats it - nothing tricky to it...
