Is Land Cruiser 200 still worth keeping and repairing

Its been a lot of stress with this purchase. I got 5 cars so far for my personal use and none of them had any issues. I have 2 very well maintained cars at home but I got this as I am mad at Red Land Cruiser 200. My Mrs didnt like me spending so much on Red car at this time and it took one month for me to get back to normal talking terms. Within a week of convincing her that this is for rest of the life, this car broke with such big issue. Then the surgery and driving ban till May 15th. If I didnt had driving ban I would ve taken it for drive and would have got this problem within 2 weeks of purchase and straight away returned it.

May be its true that your most loved things or ones strike you hard.

Don't beat yourself up - we've all bought the wrong vehicle at some point (or maybe the right vehicle, just the wrong price!). Whenever something like this happens I remind myself that I'm fortunate to be able to even make this kind of mistake - many, many people with bigger issues than buying a lemon. We live to try again, eh?

A member on other forum replied that he didnt see such amount of rust in his 20+ year old land cruiser driven in worse condition than us.
I thought of collecting such statements with screen shots to use in my case. Just got a doubt can I even use this for my personal case. Does it come under privacy right for the person who replied to me. This was from World LC forum.

No better not to use. I ll get report from ombudsman approved garage from link by GuyC

When it's a legal matter it helps to step outside of the situation , it's not your car you have just been given the job of sorting a remedy for the situation with detached and reasonable logic . Emotion only serves to confuse and multiply stress . You know what happened and you know the law is on your side , its an inconvenience is all time will fix it .

I am also thinking if Jemca Toyota was wrong get one last expert opnion. But each time I get any opinion I have to pay 100-150£. Is there any expert land cruiser owner from our group near reading who can come and check the car and give a opnion. I wont be a burden, I can pay for time and effort or any way.

I'm a bit late to the party on this Raj but if you're in Reading, you're probably not far from me in Hartley Wintney. Let me know if you'd like me to take a look and give an opinion how bad it is.

That will be of great help. Please let me know when your available. I will come, pick you and drop back as well

I'll PM you in the morning Raj and we can arrange something in the next few days

Tom,
also please let me know your availability 1 day before if possible so I ll get my covid test before meeting. It’s a standard covid protocol .

Today Jon visited me, checked my car at my home and gave his expert opinion. He took off a Boulder off my chest. I asked him how n what I should pay, he said no our LC member had a problem so he’s near by n came to help.
this reminds me of Toyota brother hood. 8 or 9 years ago my old avensis failed at a side road by Tesco in slough. I called RAC n sorted but one gentleman stopped by and asked if I need help as he has a Toyota n they don’t break usually

In 2020 when I felt Covid is issue n like me many r being exploited for sanitizers, I imported them to address it, when I realised like my family many are paying premium to get essentials delivered to home, I started Indusfresh but it’s now not serving purpose so I left it.
Now I see rust is biggest problem for us. Don’t know how I can contribute to this. I asked a friend if he can help me. (He is a renowned chemist)

Irrespective of what Jon told, I felt so happy looking at real LC on my drive way, this LC n it’s issue felt nothing. I ll get it sorted or get another kind of confidence. I felt my LC is just a kid, there’s long way to go

Glad I could help Raj. The state of those rear ram shrouds, the blown AHC pipe, and the few rusty bits of brake pipe are imo signs of Toyota bean counters cutting back on rust prevention coatings on newer trucks. Probably because they were lasting too long. Good luck with the repairs and hopefully we'll see you at some of the club get togethers in it

Glad you got some positive news, if you can get the dealer to work with you and make the repairs required, then you’ll end up with the car you wanted in the first place, and with the remedial work you are realistically going to have to do on any other you buy at this age, try to get them to give you a comprehensive warranty as a good will gesture!

I copied all repair suggestions from this thread , added some consumer rights act references and sent a 2 page email to dealer to repair/replace or refund on Monday. He agreed to take the car and get all repairs done. I tried to persuade him to get it repaired at Trevors or any LC specialist of his choice but he said he has mechanics on his wages so prefer to get it done at his garage.
only concern is he doesn’t reply to email, he calls me every day after I sent email n updates me what he is planning, when n how he ll take car etc

If you can, get an agreed detailed work plan from them with agreed checkpoints for you or your expert to quality check what's being done. If they wriggle, get suspicious.
