With it being pississtantly wet outside today, I thought I would turn my hand to making a fridge slide. They are stupid money for not much. Pics aren't up to much. I was busy.

Made a frame to take the fridge with slots for straps

Bolted some sliders on -here it is upside down. Will post pics of it extending later. I put some cross slats on later to keep it square, but it will bolt directly onto the rear deck

Made another spring loaded pin affair to lock it shut.

Deff going to have this powder coated. It's turned out really well

I've started mulling over what I want to do about my fridge slide - similar to what you are doing. Do you have more picks of how the locking pin will work? And what size is that angle iron?

Been working down my very long list today (instead of watching the Queen having a lovely day) Here are some more pics. It's finished all but for painting / coating. Works a treat. And all for about £20 plus my labour

Still working on getting a really pro finish on things. Some bits are still a bit of a cobble-job, but it's functional. If I had a bought catch OR went with the lovely GFS sliders with the built in lock, I could knock one of these out in half a day easily. There is nothing to them.

The tray pushes back and latches itself due to some nifty milling on the catch plate

very nice and like the milling on that catch
good idea putting the slide base within the runners, i had mine at top so fridge is another 1.5" above deck so that but harder to get into

Doesn't lock when extended. I couldn't think of any situation where I'd want it to do that. Has to lock closed though so it doesn't hit me in the head when opening the tailgate on a slope. Got to get the load guard in there soon, but not this weekend.

i recently added latch for my fridge slide i made, to allow for locking when open before our 8 day laning trip,
already had a latch to lock it close and use that all the time

but did we ever use it!
no... of course not!

So you've never had to pull up half way down a mountain to hand out ice-creams... with a beer in your hand?

Err, nope. Only ever me in the truck. Who would I be handing ice creams to? If I did have to do that, I'd park facing uphill. And finish my beer first.

Chris

Looks good Chris, nicely slotted  Lock out is essential when you have a drive like ours

really nice work chris for one more time..
i use the same sliders..80 cm or 90 cm and the can support 60 kgs..
but i didnt use the correct way as you did..to put vertical the sliders..
i installed them horizontally because i didnt want to "destroy" the upper flat surface from the drawers..now keep 35 ltrs of beers ..also you can change the baby up here.. :p
now iam jealous..and i will copy paste you ;) :p
the rectangular construction base for the fridge is 5mm thickness? and the weight of these all?

Interesting. Not seen them used like that. My frame was only 2mm steel. Very strong design. And a very low profile too.
