Roughtrax fan belts are wrongly sized, didn't fit.

these are the good sizes:

Turned out waterpump was never been changed, leaked too but the timing belt looked new.

Roughtrax water pump came with cast housing gave us some problems too. Longer bolts needed.

Hello - I found that the Roughtrax alternator belts fitted perfectly (Gates brand) but the AC Belt is too short. The recommended Gates’ part number is 6477MC (which is what RoughTrax sells) but I prefer the slightly longer 6478MC - 1200mm rather than 1175mm. Strange thing is that others report no problem with the AC belt.

thanks. good to know. Basically we still don't know what was the problem, it was just too short and wider. we wasted loads of time because it was before a travel and we needed done fast.

In cases like this why not goto Toyota directly? I have only ever used OE belts. Is there a good reason not to?

i didn't have time to investigate forward,
my attention to replace everything in this car with the best genuine parts. and everything i have changed came from Roughtrax. i am very very happy costumer.

previous fan belt change was without my attention. it was just done and i wasn't told, aware of any problems.
this time we had waterpump, timing belt changed too during a trip, before returning to UK....but when my excellent mechanic (in Hungary) told me better change fan belts too, we quickly looked up Roughtrax what size we need, and purchased quickly in a store. those belts turned out to be wrong size and we just couldn't fit them.
so, we had old fan belts take off and then we were going by those measurements (printed on old belts) instead of what Roughtrax recommended.

again, my guess is my car wasn't treated very well by previous owner, he might didn't replace things (sorry im not a mechanic) with genuine parts?? like the alternator.
no clue. will find out one day i hope

free give away, i don't need....from a penman trailer

Hi Laszio.
Regarding the a/c belt length. I had a 79 series single cab pickup which I replaced with a 76 series wagon.
Exactly the same engine, gearbox and looked the same under the bonnet, except for the a/c belt length.
Toyota decided to run the single cab's a/c compressor slower because the body volume was so much smaller.
They did this by changing the pully size on the a/c compressor.
I found this out by carrying my old spare belt from the 79 and when I tried to fit it to the 76 it didn't fit.
Maybe the same problem with the 90 series short wheel base vs the 95 long wheel base?
Regards
