My 'bargain' 24v

Some people can naturally drive,some cant? I think Josh will be one of the ones who can! He's not 3 until Oct! Mother in law not over impressed,but is it really possible to do himself any damage? I dont think so,less than walking pace,in a field,in an 80? Safe as houses!:clap:
 
My other 80,12v,manual.Not entirely sure what to do with it yet. Bought it on a bit of a spur of the moment thing(like you do!)
Not really much use as a spares car for mine,was kinda thinking chopped up off roader but dont really need it!
Someone please inspire/talk sense into me:think::wtf::pray:

Far be it than me to get the wrong side of your ma-in-law (heaven forbid) but IMO he as driver was the only safe person within a 100 m radius!

I was 7 when I first drove and that was in a 30 cwt 1947 Morris Commercial Parcels Van (PV). Did me no harm, passed my test a few days after my 17 th birthday, 43 years ago.

:lol: Thats pretty much what I told her,'all I had to do was reach in and swith the key off' I said
'what if you fall over' was the reply
I then went on to explain that the 80 was more than capable of safely carrying him through hedges or anything else and Im pretty sure that he's switched on enough to swith it off himself if it all went wrong!
The dog was keeping an eye on him either way!?:icon-biggrin:

That looks half tidy Dan, tart it up a bit and sell it on. Otherwise, tow it to Romania and I'll have it off you for spares! (Seriously :icon-exclaim:).

I can't get s/h parts here to save my life! It looks great in white. I like "our" blue, but there's something special about the white. Caron's is a beauty and getting better by the minute.

What if? What if what? If we what if'd our way through life, we wouldn't dare cross the road, or leave the house! Ah, but it's dangerous in the house, statistically, more accidents happen in the home than on the street, and so on and so on...

Sorry, with the greatest respect, I'm with you on this one. No offence meant to your dear ma-in-law, I'm sure she means well. You & Mrs Dan have a great kid there, it's written all over his face!

My daughter Ana 4 yrs old, she's horse riding, climbing trees, skiing, biking... What if? I'd rather she lives her life to the full, obviously, we'll encourage her to take care, but to take care doing the things she loves to do, not by not doing them.
 
Its not a 'bad' truck,previous owner did love and care for it,but used it just as much. Has spent a couple years sat around which has probably taken its toll a little,nothing likes being parked up around here! We're surrounded by sea on three sides and anywhere in the county you're never more than 20ish miles from it,less than 10 for the most part.Unprotected steel doesnt last all that long! Ive had a quick look around on the trailer but not had it over the pit yet to have a good look,time has been against me recently.
What did impress me is the servo on the clutch master cylinder,did all 12v manuals have this? My 24v doesnt and Ive never seen it on a 'light' vehicle before:shock:
 
My 80 is a 1995 12V and there's no servo on my clutch master cylinder. Cool!

Mind you, my clutch operates as light as a ford escort mk I (and trust me, that's light!).

Maybe it's got a super heavy duty clutch cover plate with Popeye strength springs :lol:

I thought it was cool,This ones a pre 'facelift' with the smaller brakes so don't know if that makes the difference?
:icon-biggrin:I had quite a few Escorts 'back in the day' Wish I kept them now!
 
Err smaller brakes so you need a servo assisted clutch master? Sorry, can't see the connection...

Mine has the bigger disc brakes and it's a 95. Was it 95 when they changed the brakes?

Mine's also an HZJ (no turbo) but again I can't see how any of that would affect the clutch.
 
No connection,just thinking the the facelift also included dropping of the clutch servo as well as adding bigger brakes.
Oct 1992 iirc?

OK that makes sense. I still don't know whether the early ones had a clutch servo or not, we have to rely on someone else to answer that one.
 
Quick search reveals that later cars had a spring mechanism on the clutch pedal that acts as a 'mechanical servo'.
