photo (people face0 sorting software any one?

Hi all,

I am looking for a free program that will sort out a few hundred photos of roughly 4 people

I am looking for a program that will do this for me automatically.

I would create folders with the individual names
Then possibly folders with groups, ie, person 1 and person 2 standing together etc,

Any one help me?

I know Picasso can do it, but, I rather not use Picasso.

You only have 4 friends Graham?


Picasa does face recognition. Be warned though, if you have a lot of photos it'll take quite a while to sort through them and your PC is not very responsive while this is happening

I had the same thoughts about Picasa, but after hearing about the face recognition (and trying other programs doing that in the past) I installed the new Picasa on a PC I don't use much. I must say I am impressed with the accuracy, it's fantastic - better than the human eye in most cases.

I let it sort through a few thousands of pics, took more than a day, but even faces in funny angles, or low light, were categorized correctly - after categorizing a few examples manually. Some of the pics where I couldn't see right away that Picasa had found the right face, I had to view the whole pic and conclude from other faces and environment that it had done the right thing. A few faces where wrongly categorized, but not many.

Try it out. I managed to make it look only in the folders I wanted it to look at; - that, and the clunky interface, are the most cumbersome parts of the deal.
