It should be fine, simple................... not rocket science. But the bloody thing is impossible to open because the cable is worse than something you'd find on a cheap chinese kids bike, now rusty, kinked and useless...................... Seems to be a one piece component [handle and cable in one] so the question is............................ is this an original Toyota wheel carrier and is this part available?

Personally i've no idea if it is an original Toyota wheel carrier. You could try putting your vehicle details into here for part numbers (if it was part of the original spec)

Well, the one in the post seems very similar to mine - a bit of research suggests it's from Direct4x4 [they list them on ebay] so now to find if they sell the cable/handle assembly. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for that, very similar to mine, especially the cable/handle pull arrangement............................ now to see if I can buy one. Tempted though to make my own - am thinking motorbike clutch lever and a good quality cable................................
