I know there are a couple of hunters on the site, but is anyone into Target Shooting at a club? I just joined my local club and ordered my first 22lr Rifle today. So far I have shot a ww2 French Rifle, 2 x 357 Magnum pistols, and this week a .38 pistol. The good thing about the club (as usual I am the only Eeeenglish man) is they are very friendly and VERY hot on Safety. (understandably so!) Someone had a 44 magnum on the range this week - man, did the ground shake when that went off! There was also a chap with a black powder rifle (cica 1856) and a replica black powder pistol - they look fun! A lot of the chaps make their own ammo too.
Best get saving for my 357/44 magnum then!

what is the laws over there on them.
my father in law has a .357 magnum good to shoot. I shot a 10mm glock in SA in Jan that was pretty good plus I won the comp we had. 3 bullets 3 targets 1st shot both hands 2nd shot right hand 3rd shot left hand. I was the only one to hit all 3.
didn't like shoots with my left hand. they don't really do gun safety down there. Beer guns and buckies.

Law is pretty strict when the heavy stuff is involved. Semi-auto's (rifles & pistols)are in a catagory of their own and not only do you need to belong to a club, but have permission from the prefecture to own, transport and use one. Manual repeaters revolvers and bolt action rifles still need permission from the prefecture but are classed in a sub catagory Informing the Police is a must for an inspection of gun storage and there may even be an additional Physco test? Not sure about that one though - high power air rifles and the like of my 22LR , you have to belong to a club, but you have to notify the prefecture that you have them, and naturally you have to have a valid shooting or hunting permit, verified by your doctor. You cant buy ammo without a permit, including shot guns etc.

Whaddya want to know? I had 2 pistols in 44 mag. Desert Eagle was fun.

Cool, Do you still have them? I used to shoot for the Army Cadets when I was a boy, 303, and was a marksman 1st class! A VERY long time ago, even came 2nd overall at an inter Cadet comp at Bisley... (got a spoon to prove it ) I managed to shoot a GPMG, Bren Gun, Sten and a 9mm pistol, all those years ago! Just wanted to know if anyone else was into shooting really. I just bought (today) a Savage Stevens 22lr with scope, silencer and case, it was sent out this afternoon, so hope its here before Sunday morning, so I can get the scope set up and start hitting the bull I have a shot gun as well, started to shoot clays just before we left for France, the only time it was used here was when the wife wupped my butt at a friends clay shoot day!

Nope they became Section 5 prohibited Firearms in 1997. You can have one for Humane Destruction a/c a slaughter-man's certificate and other odd caveats, but for everyone else no. Not if you are law abiding. Which the previous owners were of course. Now they are a manhole cover on the Chichester by pass.
