First post for newbie.
Squeal sounds like it is just behind speedo getting more consistent but still intermittent. Plenty of needle shake to go with it.
I tried removing cable to clean and lube but only got it out about 10mm before too much resistance for a novice like me to continue. Speedo bearing or cable? Should I remove dash to get speedo bearing done? Please any tips?

Well I don't know about yours, but none of the 80s I've owned have a speedo cable. They're electrically driven from a sender on the transfer case.

However, from previous dealings with Yota cable driven speedos, I seem to recall that there is a sort of snap collar on the end as it goes into the back of the speedo. This needs flicking off with e thin screwdriver. Can't say for sure on yours of course. Maybe it's a screw collar. Either way they are generally very tight for room. Not heard of anyone fixing the bearing / bushing before. Need to consult the FSM I think
