starter motor removal?

Hello please can someone tell me the easy way to remove a starter motor from a fzj 80 ! removed rear bolt just can,t get to top bolt by solenoid. do I remove dip stick or goin through wheel arch ??????????/
please help

If its anything like a 70, then through the wheel arch is the easiest way.

Never done it on a petrol 80, only on the diesels but on those you just need the right combination of extensions and a knuckle joint to get in there and then it's quite easy.

thank you yes managed with the right knuckle joint and took out underneath with a little help from the wheel arch .new plunger and contacts bit of a pig to get back though but starts like a dream .
