Hi all,

I am thinking of buying a scooter.
It will be no bigger than 125cc

I have seen scooters with different size wheels.
Some are 10 inch, some 12 inch, some even bigger.

What the difference in riding them?
What does a small wheels and big wheels make a difference or not?
They are all rev and go, automatics.
New price just £240

I kinda' like the gold coloured one.

Bigger wheels, more stability. Riding a scooter with small wheels at speed can be entertaining or terrifying depending on your experience and outlook :scared-eek:

Bigger is better, more footprint on road=more grip.

Thanks all,
So bigger wheels gives more stability.

Nobody drives fast here, most speed limits are 40km/h or 50km/h
Makes crossing roads so easy, one can really just walk from one side to the other without looking.

Ironically the taller wheels probably have a smaller footprint because they're much narrower. But they're considerably less affected by bumps and ruts, and give a smoother ride.

Why not a step-through like you used in Thailand? Although the twist-n-go's are fun and quick off the mark.

At those speeds the wheel size shouldn't be a big concern. :auto-dirtbike:

Hi Doodle,
Like you say, the bigger wheels are only half the width as the smaller 10 inch wheels.
I do remember some one mentioning that small wheels turn faster, when heading into a sharp corner?

Hi ignat,
The Thailand 110cc Honda Wave's step through was OK, but that was generally on long open roads.
Here in Weifang, it is quite the opposite, hence the slow but consistent traffic.

I am not sure a step through would be the thing to have here in the city.

Any more opinions,,,please shout up

Thanks

The smaller wheels will turn faster, yes, but this is relative and the difference will be minimal - it's not like comparing a Landcruiser to a Lotus.

If you're worried about pushing the performance envelope, don't buy a scooter!
