Painted the axles, suspension and steering arms. Picked up some bits from dealer for axle overhaul.
Made a start on fitting my storage box from the Isuzu into the boot, making a few changes as spare wheel getting mounted in there too.
Got a few days off work next week, 80 will be going into my little workshop and coming out taller
Decided to improve a couple of scrapes and paint marks on the cruiser today. There's plenty of scratches and stone chips, most are tiny, but two big scratches on the front bumper were annoying me lately. I put the passenger side one on it, the other one was there when i bought it. Also resprayed the spare wheel cover as it was faded.

This is rough enough work by any standards!! but its better than it was. I don't have the time to set up the air gun and all the rest or to spend hours sanding. Plus I already had the aerosol primer and lacquer. Total cost €12 for a can of Lucerne silver
the plug is probably over tightened with no or completely flattened crush washer. Have you tried a 6 sided socket with the end turned down to remove the chamfer? Welding a big nut on always works.
Don't have a 6 sided socket ... currently watching one on ebay. Lacking a welder (and welding skills) my best bet would be to cut a slot in the top of it I think.
Will see how the wd40 goes first. Can get a fair bit of leverage on it with the 24mm spanner untill it starts to burr over.
Some are on so tight you won't get them off without a welder, which takes about 5 mins to do and is something a local garage might sort for a beer token. Did one a couple of weekends ago for someone who fought it for ages and couldn't believe a quick blast with the welder left it finger tight (but not finger cool!).
Grant, if you do get a 6 sided socket that has the internal bevel, you could always pop it in the post to me (or I am sure Jon too) and we could turn it down for you and send it back. In case you don't have access to a lathe that is. Jiffy bag and a couple of stamps. In fact you could have it delivered straight from e-bay to us.
Milner sell filler plugs (just going there now as it happens) so you can always use a chisel and knock the plug round if necessary and then replace it.
When you come over Grant, I will put it on the ramp and remove it for you in about a minute as I have everything on hand. If you haven't done it by then.
This Saturday I shall mostly be rebuilding my front hubs. Whaddya mean AGAIN? and putting new upright needle rollers in, plus swapping all the wheel bearings. Do hey need it? Well not really but they live in filthy conditions and stand for weeks between turning so I figure it's time.
Anyone want to come and watch, learn and drink tea is welcome. That's an invite to a few who are relatively local who wanted some lessons.
