Who is doing what maintenance today?

Mr T. Better hold on to your wallet though.

The mate of mine that used to commute between the UK & Romania quite frequently, picked up one of these to fill the otherwise unexplained 'hole' in my dash. I was well chuffed with it for a tender. :icon-biggrin:

Then my service garage had to remove the dash to access a burned part of the harness and broke the damn thing getting it out.

Not happy. :icon-cry:

Over 60 quid I was told, from Mr T.

Karl's probably got a drawer full of them....

Checked the oil level today, same place as when it was last changed.
Checked the coolant, still full.
Checked under for leaks, no leaks.
Checked the front disk pads, still meaty.
Checked the tyre pressures, still 38lbs all round.

Checked the windscreen wash, topped it up.

I like maintenance on the 80...:icon-biggrin:

More then I've done recently, 80 hasn't turned a wheel for a couple of weeks. Just sat on the drive and I'm sure it'll fire up without hassle.
Too busy with other stuff and sorting the focus out to sell it!
Couple of training courses over next couple of weeks then get the 80 ready for a week in Wales :icon-biggrin:

An oil service today, so engine, front diff, filters, maybe atf.

Who the hell cracks the bottom of a bucket and puts it back?

So, tommorrow I'm trying to clean a gallon of sump oil off driveway :icon-evil:

Put the battery on charge, was a bit slow to turn over yesterday eve when used the 80 for first time in a few weeks.

Busy making use of the sun shine...

That would be me... I use the split buckets for gardening, plenty good enough for carrying soil and non liquids. My missus immediately filled one with water and soaked herself....

Nearly there having added soundproof to the ceiling it's just a matter of putting it all back together.

What sound proofing are you using Warren? I was looking at some soundproof panels and they are silly expensive. The cheapest I have found so far was some large rolls from the US but would rather find a UK supplier.

New shocks and ARB bushes fitted. The worst of the shocks had no resistance at all for about half it's travel and felt like it was low on oil although the exterior was bone dry with no sign off leaks. It also rattled when shook side to side. Ride quality notably improved and now back to 'normal':icon-biggrin:

After much googling and reading I went for an alternative to approved sound proofing. The idea is to add weight to the panel so it absorbs the sound and then add further high density foam to sound proof.

I did a lot of reading and found this:

http://www.ttforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=223817

If you google Flashband as sound proofing you get lots to read about and people who have had good results given the cost.

I will add it too the doors, rear quarter panels and the whole of the floor.

Will keep you posted.

Nice one, an effective and cheap alternative to dynamat and fatmat. Looks like I may go down the same route.

Oh and from reading that post in the TT forum I'm so glad I own an LC. What a bunch of negative morons. A chap finds a cheaper alternative to a brand name and they pull him to pieces.:icon-rolleyes:

I had a good day in the Sun yesterday. I did a oil change, antifreeze change bloody jublee clip sheared off the bottom hose. then took the props of for a bit of a gease and check. Shocked how much better the props were compared to landrovers to take off. even manged to get my 1/2" impact gun in there to undo/ do up. Had a think about my rear drawer set up as my swing out is coming on well. sorry no pictures yet.

paid my insurance renewal. ...... and washed it ... well blasted it with the jet wash

Had a bit of spare time yesterday and today so I continued working through jobs on the GX. So I :-
Got on and completed the rebuilding of the air con system, having replaced the compressor with a nearly new one, replaced the condenser (£50 of ebay) replaced the drier and most of the O rings tomorrow I am having it checked out and re gassed so hopefully I will have air con all summer.

Today I dropped the gearbox oil (dont know what it was but it was brown and not hypoid, probably 80-90 mineral gear oil) and replaced it with this:_

I dont know categorically if there is an improvement but it certainly is no worse on a quick spin round the block. while i was in the vicinity I checked the transfer box which was full of clean hypoid so I left that alone.
I also rattled all the shield bolts out and gave them a good copperslip dose so that may prevent future woes.
While I was messing about under the bonnet I thought I would treat it to this:-

because of this:-

not a big job to fit and well worth it
IMG_0664_zps5d579396.jpg.

I also replaced a missing headlight washer.

There are still a raft of jobs to do, discs and pads for one, rear wiper doesn't work, front bumper needs swapping but I will get there. It is my intention to have every single thing on the truck working by the time I have done ( thank god the diff locks all work well)

Andy

Sorry Andy, remind me, am I supposed to be buying this one from you when it's finished? I can't remember.

My aircon that was working has died. No gas. Leaked out somewhere. Can't see any green stains. Bugger.

Hey I have a box of your stuff in my boot and that rope you wanted plus the bit off the wheel carrier of course. Can't make it over to you as I have to get the silver one ready for MOT. Yep, time to make the handbrake work for an hour or so.

Might drop a new rad in the Ghost as well. It is full of crap despite flushing it.

I'm hoping/praying that the air con is a success if not it may be a case of replacing pipework. If it is then so be it. I'm out all Sat but might call round later in the day if I can.

Andy

You need to talk me through where all the joints are Andy. It was working just fine.

I'm in the same boat, one summer working fine, the next, zip-all.

After a re-gas, the guy said there's no circulation registering, although the electro-clutch is kicking in and the revs pick-up as you'd expect.

No visible leaks but that's not unusual, don't know where to start really, other than take it somewhere and say fix it. Problem with that, wrong diagnosis could be expensive, a new compressor maybe when only an "o" ring was needed....:icon-cry:
