WHO'S GOT THE SNOW ?

Chris, send us some this way please!

Crispin, it's still snowing! I dug the cars out this evening and it took me almost an hour to get to the main road. Which is about 45 yards. I hand braked it around and put it back on the drive. The Verso's traction control thing is good, but the snow builds up on the air dam like a snow plough. Think I shall stay put.

You are welcome to as much snow as you want. I'll swap for a spare diff. Shame we don't have one in circulation, it would be a neat thing. More on it's way they say. Another 4" dump tonight!

Chris

-11 last night and -7 now at 7pm

snow well over "wellie" depth now, nearly 2ft.
roads all snowy. but dual carriageway good for me as 99% of vehicles sticking to outside lane, leaving me with the snowy inside lane to pass them all!
and back roads empty, 4x4 territory only.

havent recovered anyone yet.

Stopped for a possible recovery at 05:30 this morning with a 7.5 tonner in a hedge.
Sadly the engine was cold and it was locked up.
Better luck tomorrow perhaps.

I can't see anyone around here needing recovering from a snow mishap any time soon!

Loads of snow on the Isle of Wight, luckily my mother drives a 4x4 so no worries.
Its surprising how good a Kia Sportage is.

Had a cracking day today, left the house at 0630 and I was one of the first on many side roads, even with my road tyres on the LC performed very well indeed, and I'm so impressed,    I spent most of the morning picking my staff up from all over Derbyshire ! Funny how everyone wants to be your friend when it snows bad and they change their tunes about brixton brief cases and all that bo**ocks, Really Really want them knoblies now !

Sell my Toyota, F*#k off !! lol

Nick.

I think I saw a small amount of ice this morning on one of the country roads in Dorset, is it snowing elsewhere then? we are still growing daffodils down here :D

In my part of Essex we got our first helping of snow yesterday and it caused chaos.

I spent over an hour freeing up a hill in my area, dragged 5 vehicles up the hill from a standing start, including a couple of loaded transits. I prefer towing the commercials as most of them have a front towing point to hand, loads of car drivers just didn't know where their front tow point was, and when they learned that the had to fit it 99% gave up on the idea of a tow and gave up on the hill. One guy spent 30 mins spinning his wheels and smacking the curb till he gave up and fitted the towing eye to his Astra.

I helped push a load, but I don't fancy that again, too much like hard work, especially when I realized that one car was full! I soon turfed them out to push their car  The look of disgust you get from 2wd vehicle drivers when you pass them is amusing, it soon changes when they realize your actually passing them to free the blockage, then everybody's your friend. The tow rope stayed on the back of the motor all day.

Today there wasn't much fresh snowfall, but all the side roads are ice rinks, interesting. The weather forecast says 10-20cm of snow overnight, and its already started, so we'll see what the morning brings.

Cheers,

Scott.

Live in Doncaster but office is in Worksop, Nottinghamshire

Wow, there has been a fair bit of snow around. The small amount we had around here is all but gone.

Morning folks

Just got up for work, there was no snow on the car last night and this morning there is 7" to 8". That's a lot of snow for southern England :!:

Went for a drive in last night near Macclesfield Forest. Beaten in 4 places. I did put up a good battle though and once again was so surprised how far in you can get on BFG ATs (still aired up at 37 psi), and out again. Funnily enough I was the only vehicle on the road.

Getting interesting on a reasonable incline

I made it another 100 feet or so up this hill

Erm, nope - that drift was mid windscreen height - you can see the road sign on the left. Its was pretty windy up their, and my passenger was getting a bit twitchy too by this point.
