79 Series that's not silly money ...

Direct from Dubai a new 79 is around £23k so this is no deal imo. New from South Africa is a little more but if you want RHD that’s the way to go as still much cheaper than Australia. There are mint older cars, 80s, 100s and even 60s in SA too. Add about 5k for shipping at present then add VAT and duty (10%) but still cheaper than this.

Yes the VDJ is Euro4 but rules for imports do seem to differ. There is also a 76 with the 1HZ on eBay which is registered as a 2014 so it would have had to pass IVA and the 1HZ hasn’t even heard of Euro1

I’m in the process of bringing in a vehicle from Dubai.

Now we are no longer in Europe, do cars etc still have to be Euro compliant, were those rules adopted and put into effect in the U.K. ? ‍

Didn't the DVLA actually sponsor and write some of these euro specs ?

Direct from Dubai
I just looked at some price estimates if importing direct from Dubai. Prices look better than buying from here and more than price, we might get rust free car, which IMO is biggest advantage if plan to keep car long term.

There are a lot of doggy deals in Dubai. If you don't have someone trust worthy on the ground there - beware. Specially if buying second hand from ' specialist exporters'

28K for a single cab V6 petrol. 32K for a double cab. You can't buy a V8 diesel there, if you could another 4K looking at SA prices. So lets say 36K Plus is it 22% import duty on a pick up? Is 44K. Plus shipping. Plus registration. Plus all the faff to arrange shipping and registration. Doesn't look that different?

Cars have to comply with The Road Vehicle Emission Performance Standards in UK legislation. I think there is a small change in as much as average emissions for manufacturers is now calculated for just UK sales rather than EU wide, but otherwise the categories are the same as the Euro standards. It could change in the future but policy is to be the same as or more strict than the EU regs.

If you can get a V8 diesel double cab into the UK for less than 38K on the road you probably have a ready market...
With all the other bit's on this one it's getting to the price he's asking....

V8 double cabs in SA are currently up for sale at around r1million. Long lead times on new stuff which like here has put the prices up.

Time to retire from a life of crime , nobody to impress anymore and it might be fun to do some traveling . 10 grand either way really makes no difference to a millionaire banker .
