One of my colleagues has just bought a 3.4V6 Colorado (VZJ95). It has 80k miles but the last oil change was at just over 50k, around 18 months.

First thing he is going to do is change the oil, but he was wondering whether he should do any "extras" such as use a flush etc. Now I've heard pros and cons of using flushes etc. :?

As I wasn't sure, I thought I'd ask here....... Thanks in advance.

The guy who has serviced my Collie in the past always runs a flush but I don't think I would let him do so on my 80...

Tends to loosen up crud & things that don't really need loosening up on older engines, can cause leaks & other probs, i'd never flush.

Thanks for the responses - I'll just tell him to do a "normal" change and perhaps do another one in 1-2k for good measure perhaps.
