Lincomb September 7th,8th

OK Pete and Ben, I'd love to post some pictures but the forum is not playing for me tonight , it let me won't upload the pics, but I'm sure there will be plenty from others.
I had a great time off-roading for the first time in over 2 years, slightly broke a CV (not exactly broke but clicking like mad on full lock), slid down a hill sideways slammed into a tree and severely dented a rear door and smashed the door window. The dents don't really matter, it adds character I think.
Lincomb being the fantastic place it is with equally fantastic, helpful people, there just happened to be someone (Karl) with a spare rear side window, result , he even fitted it for me.
Dave and his Scout Group did excellently keeping us fed with a great selection of food and at the end of the weekend washing the trucks.
A trials course had been set up and although I didn't dare attempt it with a dicky CV, I went round as a passenger in Shaynes 90, it was his first Lincomb and his first time off road he did very well going round very quickly and only hitting, as far as I know, only one gate/cone. it was a tight course in places better suited to a short wheelbase, but I'll have a go next time.
So thanks all round for the organisers , I'm sure we all had a spiffing time.

Cheers Chas glad you enjoyed the ride , i did only hit 1 cone , drove straight over it in fact without even seeing it because i cut through the long grass but got 3 penalties altogether . Going so fast i drove straight passed a gate and had to reverse and in the trees i had to reverse but again it was my own fault for going too fast . I learned a hell of a lot though about my trucks capabilities which i am still astonished at and my own failings (on reflection third gear pretty much throughout the entire trial (especially through them trees) was a bit daft ....... but hey it was fun

Great to see you all again, it was a great weekend.

A huge thanks to Ian and Nic, Toby and Louise, Stacey and Toni, Lorin and Amy, making the whole weekend possible.

Really enjoyed getting the new track done, and having Ian's mog on site. Think Karl witnessed that it can go thru bogs that an 80 can't!!

It's raining now, so thanks for all for positive vibe for keeping the weekend virtually dry!

Will put a spring date in soon. Just gotta chat with the team and scouts.

Just to echo everyone else comments, a huge thanks to everyone involved for organising another great event - I didn't get to drive Oiley as I was whipping his front diff out (thanks for the support & constant encouragement Jay Dubbleyuh!!!)

Had a ride in Jon's 80 & Ian's 'Mog which was a hoot

Best blackberries ever as well!!!

Great to see everyone again as I've missed the last couple - looking forward to being there in spring.

I did not notice any bogs, there was a small puddle I drove through that had a lot of people standing round it for some reason . . . .

I am pleased with the way the Mog went. It was doing a lot of sliding sideways early on in the weekend but lowering the tyre pressures seemed to solve the problem. A few people drove it and they all seemed to come back with a big grin on their face.

I only have a few pictures from when I was testing the mog for flex. For those that don't know, Unimogs are designed to have a flexible chassis to aid articulation. I was not sure how much flex there is supposed to be. The box on the rear of the chassis has 150kg of gravel in to help the chassis flex and get some weight over the rear wheels.

As can be seen here it does flex the chassis a fair amount

This year, thanks to Simon Holton, everyone who drove got a prize. There were colouring books for the kids as well as key rings, car cleaning kits , mouse mats, caps and umbrellas up for grabs.
