No gear select

Hi all. I have a 2008 lc200 sahara with no gear selection showing up on dashboard display. It has "check VSC system" also 4lo flashing and traction control is flashing. Car drives as normal. Cleared the codes but it keeps returning. Any ideas?

what did the codes say before you cleared them?

There was no code logged. I just selected clear codes anyway.

any check engine light? What did you use to read / clear the codes?

I used a cheap scan tool to scan and clear codes

That probably won't show all the codes, there will likely be a code logged in one of the ECUs that you can't see with the cheap tool. Try and read the codes with techstream - if it's saying check VSC there will be a code.
