How is it the left manage to bring the topic of racism into every debate?
It certainly appears to be the case, when someone dares to have an opinion differing from there own, there favourite card comes out...

whilst in not calling anyone who contributed to this thread a racist overpopulation is something that s used to argue that black ,brown & Asian folks are a problem.
about 15 to 20 percent of the worlds population live in developed countries & consume 75 percent of the worlds resources.
A more equitable distribution of resources would maybe see things like millon pound super cars disappear & luxuries like decent housing , health care & public services become more of a priority.
older folks are respected & play a full part in Spanish society.
Any Spanish pensioner , widow over the age of 55 or folks on disability benefit is entitled to subsidised holidays in the off season the objective being
"contributing to improving their quality of life , health & preventing them becoming dependent on others"
As someone in the social security system here im looking forward to retiring & going on the razz with the other gimmers. Anyone who is resident is entitled.Spain isnt a socialist paradise , not by a long chalk but society here hasn't given up on the underdog.

Spanish society is distinct , its a much more family orientated space.Older people are much more visible 6 respected it seems - no one has made the argument that corvi 19 should "run its course"older folks are respected & play a full part in Spanish society. Just the same as they do in the UK, if they want to.

its funded by the social security that working folks pay into.I dont think i advocated confiscation.Is decent housing , health care & a reasonable standard of living a utopia? & no millionaires wouldn'texist in my utopia.

Realistically we are not going to artificially limit population growth unless we stop extending life, and no one wants to do that. Pretty much every organism is programmed to maximise life expectancy, we are just particularly good at it. The % rate of growth has been dropping since the late 60s and expected to continue to do so. I don't see any mileage in even talking about restricting birth rates even further without some very solid ideas on how to support an ageing population.
The only way we will lessen impact of this inevitable growth is to use resources more efficiently. Generally the modern, industrial nations are very bad at this but the rest of the world is catching up. I don't know if 70 or 80% of resources are used by 20 or 30% but it sounds about right. If anyone wants to try and model it the figure to look for is DMC (Domestic Material Consumption) but I haven't seen a global set of data. It mostly comes out for the EU.
If you want to look at energy consumed per capita there are some maps here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_energy_consumption_per_capita#cite_note-5 and you'll see that the most populous countries, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan are relatively low users. The country that spoils it with population and high energy consumption is the US. This does not imply I am blaming all Americans.
