80 Series Winch Bumper Designed by MUD-KIT and Made in UK

Credit to you. Fine looking thing indeed. I do wonder if the bar obscures the headlight a little given that we need every single lux we can from these old candle driven monsters, but the shape certainly does look modern. What about wiring the indicators into the side lights and using the bumper...

    Merry Christmas you filty animals

I'm just glad to be here. It's a year I'd like to forget, but there's little chance of that. So looking forward is the only way really. Have a great seasonal break everyone.

Yep EFS. Can't fault them at all.

Electical plug for sub tank switch.

Sorry, I think I wired mine in manually with pins and solder. It was a long time ago. Don't think I had any harness. I used to to fire a relay.

80 series 4,2 td transfer case

I think you'll find this is a question about transfer boxes rather than gearboxes Michael. Yes it should fit. I have fitted a 100 series gearbox to an 80 4.2 24v manual. No issues at all with refitting the original 80 transfer box with regard to props, bolts to the gearbox, electrical...

Electical plug for sub tank switch.

According to a search on Toyo the switch part number is 84560-60030 That's for a 96 Australian 24 valve. There were dash changes along the way so there is always the question as to whether you pick the right style but it's a staring point. Then over to Google Images ...

Looking to upgrade Shocks and struts

I'm going to say EFS if you can get them. Had a lot of sets ups over the years and can't think of any that I've had that have been better then EFS.

New owner seeking advice and thoughts!

Welcome. 6" lift? Maybe a combined suspension lift and body lift. But I'm pretty sure that you couldn't do a suspension lift that big without some very major engineering such as a solid front axle swap. Because the Prado is an IFS set up, the most you can usually lift one is about 2 1/2" before...

    Flashing Diff Lock Light

Well I'd try the search function first Zee. This has been covered more times than I care to think. It could be mechanical - jammed. electrical - just not firing or electrical 2, not registering. Listening for the locker engaging is the easiest first port of call. Then checking the indicator...

Either the lock has not engaged OR the detent switch that says it's lock is not working.

    headlight upgrades, road legal?

The limiting factor for traditional incandescent lamps is the wiring. It just can't carry the current that they need. I put an upgraded harness in and that made a difference but nothing like popping the LEDs in
  17. Chris

    headlight upgrades, road legal?

LEDs in mine. Bought them whilst in Finland. Been through several MOTs now, never a word said. Pattern is perfect. Does make mains look like candles though. Not that I really need the mains now

    1HD-FTE Valve Clearance

Well done. yes it makes more sense that the manual once you've done it. I'd describe it as mildly terrifying when you read it, but it's really not and the benefits are worth it. One of my valves was miles out of whack.

    TLC 105 4.2D

Welcome TEDO, please do pop over to the introduction sedction and let us know a bit more about yourself and your 105. We're here to help but as Steve says, we may need a teeny bit more to go on. Wobbling is not unusual, but the causes can be many and varied.

    Max lift kit

Not an easy answer that one. Lift and spring rate are two separate factors really. You can have lift but no extra capacity and of course more weight carrying ability with no lift at all. Really decent suspension manufacturers will publish figures on lift height at a constant load. I went with 4"...

Can't argue with that at all.

    New and looking

Again, there isn't much to chose between the 12v and the 24v. I have had both. The best Landcruiser configuration out there in an 80 series is the one that you come across and say, hmm, that's in good nick. Very little rust, body decent and inside look half decent. That's the one that you slap...

    New and looking

It's important not to limit your options. We get people join looking for a 1994, auto, in green, less than 200k miles, no more than 3 owners, beige interior, VX spec, BFG tyres, no rust etc etc. Well they're chasing a unicorn. I'd start with looking for a decent 80. That's the top line. I...

Welcome Grant, glad you made it. Hopefully we can help you find one. Just so that you know, we are a friendly and honourable bunch here. Front wing

2 new genuine wings for an 80 from the main dealer came in at £804 ie £402 each. I'd start there. Getting a price for genuine is always a good benchmark. You might snag a decent second hand one or find some cheaper pattern parts. With new of course you then need them painting. Best result would...

    105 Series front end Knock.

A bit more involved, but if you have something like a GoPro it's worth mounting it under there directed at the big lumpy bits and do for a drive. These things are pretty heavy duty and sometimes trying to get a knock to happen with a bar etc can be quite hard. If you can't find what it is...

    Stove options

Most appliances will run from one canister, but only for so long. As the contents drops, there's not enough chuff left in them. That twin manifold thing of David's is a great way to over come that. I'd be curious to know if it will empty both cans fully. I tend to use up the part emptied ones on...

    Stove options

Of course, there is a Coleman, just like the petrol one that works off gas. But unless you carry a little box of converters, you're always stuck with the branded Coleman gas bottles. I run several stoves and lanterns most of which run on petrol, so I always have fuel in the vehicle. But if you...

IS removing a 80 rear diff from axle like in this video the same procedureas 90 series?

TOYOdiy. It's an invite only thing. Probably just a hole or bracket where ABS cables or sensors mount somehow. You can't tell from the info on the drawings.
  37. Chris

    Stove options

Probably not going to suite you but I have 3 of the Coleman dual burners. Why 3? I don't really have room for 4. Are they the best stove out there? Nah, course not but they are good. Fuel available anywhere in the world, damn hot, tough, compact easy to service. Reliable? Yes completely. it's...

    Diff rebuild /ratios for 1997 80 series 1hdft

Yes of course they do. I hadn't had my coffee! However there is still a difference in the casing itself which I am no so convinced is a five minute job to wrangle. You say small simple cut and move two studs, I'd have no problem doing that at all, but not quite as easy for everyone without...
  44. Chris

    Diff rebuild /ratios for 1997 80 series 1hdft

I might be but I don't think I am. The locker itself, not the diff, requires an entirely different casing in order to mount to the axle. There are racks, sensor holes, slide rod carriers and all sorts of gubbins that are required.
  45. Chris

    Diff rebuild /ratios for 1997 80 series 1hdft

Done the same Grimbo. I've had both manual and auto and I've yet to come across a situation, personally, where I have thought, wow, so glad I have a manual. That includes off road, on road, towing, recovering or anything at all. I'd have a 24v auto with lockers as my number one choice if I...

It's a turbo called a G Turbo. Garret do a Big Boy, there's the Winke lads in Holland and others too. Not really up on turbos. You can also gt a supercharger. Mmmmm. Nice. Not a clue what one of those is though but sounds good. I want one.
