well if your front wheels are the same then that could explain your death wobble? or did all that come from Lincomb?

all that came from the laning trip before Lincomb.

since fitting the replacement panhard rod the death wobble has almost gone.

so my plan is to get the new track rod ends fitted, then get it tracked.

once thats done i might fit a new set or panhard rod bushes, and a steering damper.

a few pics from yesterdays laning trip. 8-)

as i was leading the group, and my truck is running on veg oil, which stinks, the guys all turned up wearing masks.

was a great day out.

got 2 big laning trips on next month. 8-)

got 3 days of camping and laning from north wales to south wales, and then a weekend laning in the lake district!

Not much signs of use? Blimey Ben, there could be hundreds of Japanese soldiers still hiding in that one! Mind you, the speed that stuff is growing at this week, that could have been a motorway until recently. It's mental. You should get a hat Like Indiana Jones.

Chris

Thanks Carl.

it is a nice house Anna, the owners have to park on the other side of the river and use the foot bridge to get in and out. 8-)

Looks like you all had fun Ben ! Which area of Wales did you cover ? I need to organise a trip soon just been far too busy :(

looked good

you will love the multi-day camping and laning trip - i really enjoyed our 8-days laning trip round uk
going for more than just 1-2 days is an nice adventure

We did Shaun, was a great day!

we were right on the Shropshire Powys border in the afternoon.

we drove South from Clun and drove the lanes to the West and just South of Presteigne, and then headed North East and drove a few more.

theres quite a few lanes around there that ive still not driven, but ive found some of them are difficult/impossible to find on the ground.

im waiting for Powys councils rights of way officer to get back to me regarding a few lanes that im interested in driving.

will give you a shout when ive next got a trip coming up, and theres a spare place.

my latest ebay bargain arrived last week.

bought a 110v Hilti impact wrench. 8-)

P5260019.jpg

wanted to test it so decided to change my wheels, which i wanted to do anyway as ive got some big trips coming up with lots of road miles.

P5260020-1.jpg

worked faultlessly.

just need some impact sockets now. :)

P5260021.jpg

thinking of selling the other tyres, while theyve still got some life left in them.

P5260022-1.jpg

theres a guy selling an almost new set of 35" simex's, and hes only 20 mins up the road from me. is a lot of money though. :?

decided my truck really needed cleaning, having not been cleaned since before Lincomb, and ive done a laning trip since then aswell.

cleaning my truck has always been hassle for me, but i think ive finally found a solution.

i cant wash it on the drive, as the mud is impossible to get out of the gravel.

if i do it in the road then the road ends up being filthy and i dont think the neighbours like that.

so normally i take it to the local car wash and end up using 3 economy washes, which totals £6. thats if im lucky, if they see on the CCTV that its a dirty 4x4 then they switch the jet wash off.

so non of these options are very good. :(

so yesterday i decided to take it to the Polish guys at one of the hand car washes ive seen.

they wanted £10 to jet wash it and wash it, and £15 if i wanted all the mud jet washing off from underneath.

so i took the £15 option and they did a bloody great job.

they washed underneath and they were climbing on the rock sliders and bumpers, cleaning the roof and every where. really did do an excellent job, going to take it there in future, saves me getting covered in crap!

P5260026.jpg

decided to sort one of the steering bars out yesterday afternoon.

when i took it to be tracked a month or 2 ago, they said they couldnt do it because the track rod ends on the rear bar were seized.

P5260027.jpg

so after wrestling to get the ball joints un done, it was off and on the bench.

P5260028.jpg

P5260029.jpg

plenty of WD40 and a big wrench and i got one side undone.

P5260030.jpg

and other side done.

P5260031.jpg

new track rod ends.

P5260032.jpg

P5260033.jpg

this is the milner supplied tiny steering damper, compared to a genuine one.

P5260036.jpg

re-fitted the steering bar and the good second hand, genuine steering damper.

P5260037.jpg

going to take it to get it tracked next saturday.

got a list of bits to do on the truck, but i dont think im going to be achieving anything today, due to far too much beer last night!
