Romania 2017 - Comarnic Visit

They make their money on the rate Clive. Sell for £10, buy for £8 that sort of thing.

Ah, well in that example, surely the £2 is their commission, no? Unless I've misunderstood something.

Usually they take the exchange rate then add 1.5% as their profit/commission/fee, but the 1.5% will vary from bank to bank to exchange house to hotel reception... depending on which one you choose.

Even the exchange houses rates here vary a lot.

Well I'll get a couple of euros then and use the card, when needed.

Exactly. The good old days of stating a commission are gone, it's all down to what rate they give. Intercash used to be pretty competitive.

Ps. Galaxy seems to be worth quite a bit over there, what's the exchange rate, 200g for a 100 litres of diesel?

Glorious sunset here this evening.

Well I've got to try and redress the balance with Clive being on the beach etc. :-)

You might just have enough left for a jerry can full Nick.

TBH Nick, your main purchase will be fuel and baccy, and I suggest you get that at the duty free/paid at one of the border crossings, enough for your whole stay, because roll your own baccy is expensive here and hard to find, let alone something smokable.

What food we don't provide will be relatively cheap, unless you insist on caviar with your chicken wings...

That was the tail end of it Clive. It started out pure golden and morphed into that. It's been a reasonable day but windy.

Caviar? Too expensive, im more about quantity than quality. As long as it tastes good.
You'll be trying out the bbq sauce Clive when I get the wings out.

I was gonna get some embassys for the driving and I'll have some golden vag with me anyway. I remember in one of the previous threads about the great hunt for baccy.
Im currently on some Dubai golden vag , 30 quid as opposed to 200 quid. Hows that work then?

Looking forward to that Nick, yummy!

'Claire Raynor Barbecue sauce'

Has a certain ring to it…

Yep, it became an "issue" ....

I suggest stopping on Tobacco Road at Adinkerke and getting GV from the garage further on past the shops. £7.50 for 50g I'm told.

Already planned. Hopefully they still give out free chocolate with every purchase...

@Chas if I don't see you before or on the train we can meet there

BTW Nick, just as a matter of interest, I haven't seen Embassy in years, never in the duty frees I go through to Turkey, or the Middle East, and they were my regular smoke 16 years ago before I came out here.

I smoke Marlboro red here, and B&H SF from the duty frees, but never see Embassy, are they a U.K. only brand, d'ya think?

I admit I've not had any duty free for a while but that's cos I smoke rollys now and that's what people get me. If not b n h are similar and to be honest they'll all taste the same after smoking golden vag the last 16 years. Only ever get them for my birthday now as i know I'll have trouble rolling...

I will get my baccy on the ferry because its about 2 quid dearer for 10 packs than it would be if i detoured to tobacco road .

Money wise Helen got 500 euros cash for the last trip and only managed to spend half because we filled the tank twice paying cash to try and rid ourselves of the funny money on the way home .
Munchies , beer and campsite fees are what you need cash for , i use a debit card for fuel and have never noticed any charges later .

Helen also bought 500 Leu (£100) last year at our post office and despite trying her hardest to get rid of it we came home with about 300 L (£60) , i really don't know why she bothered because there's a hole in the wall down the road from Clive's and iirc from the previous trip you could opt to pay your charges as your draw your money from the machine while using a debit card , so it was charged in Leu (i.e pittance)
