Soooo.... I decided I'd replace all discs, pads etc on the hundy and get the calipers re-built by BiggRed. Decided to replace all the handbrake gubbins while there and install the Chris Jerman dog bones (RIP Chris). Rears all done, on to the fronts, to be greeted by an unholy mess.... last person in has left a dogs breakfast for me.

When I pulled the hub off front left, the rubber lip on the inner oil seal tore away. OK I thought, I was sort of thinking of replacing the dust plates anyway. But - those 12 mm head bolts holding it all together are in a really tight space - how do you get them out???

Lol I have one of those.... the issue is that channel the bolts sit in is too narrow for the impact sockets to get in, and even my blue point 3/8" drive sockets dint quite make it ‍

Looks like an 80 series hub ? you will be replacing the channel bit anyway will you not ? just cut the outer channel so you can get a spanner on it .

Yes I'm leaning to just cutting out that bit, will carry on cleaning it up in the hopes it's just crud getting in the way.... one for tomorrow, disheartened at replacement parts prices lol

Induction heater, or old fasioned oxy, or a blob of weld, if you had a welder :grimacing: or a trip down south to a man who can.

Brass wire brush in the drill and a bit of elbow grease cleaned up the channel enough to get in there with a thin wall 12mm socket. Fortunately the bolts came out fairly easily… what a mess in there now. I’ve now spent al of this years and next years pocket money - everything new from the spindle dust cap to the steering knuckle now…. Glad I’m doing this now, hopefully it eliminates the pulsing brakes, the drag on take off, the annoying clunk on going from P to D, etc. now it’s all off next is to replace the front roll bar drop link bushes.

New bearings sourced, parts from Partsouq en route, I might get to drive it on Sunday night.

BiggRed have done a great job on the calipers, recommended if yours are fubar….
