As the diff is out I thought I might as well replace the rear diff carrier bearings. Mr Toyota wants about £120 each for them

They are taper rollers with an 80mm OD, 50mm ID and 20mm wide and are marked 32010J.

A quick search on the net brings up these SKF and these Koyo both about the same price £21+VAT.

Any horror stories of either?.... any preferences of one over the other?

Toyota use Koyo as OEM in other applications. Not sure if it's the brand they use for the diff carrier though.

Thanks Grant, the current OEM diff carrier bearing is Nachi, but I can't find any UK suppliers of this one.

The trunion bearings I've just bought from Milners are Nachi. I don't know if they were ever supplied as OEM though. It could indicate that yours have been replaced in the past if they are not though.

I had prewar motorbikes with SKF bearings so they know how to make them by now?

Toyota used both KOYO and NACHI, but seemed to use KOYO a lot more.

Personally I'd get KOYO ones. :icon-biggrin:

Thanks Ben, that was the way I was heading but just wanted a gentle push :icon-biggrin:

Koyo bearings on their way

Koyo, SKF or Timken are all top rated bearing manufacturers. You wont go wrong with any of them.
