Hi Folks,

I have a 1997 3.0d, I'm told these are tuneable with a 'tune-it'.

I would be interested to know of any experiences, good or bad. Also are these the only option, can they be remapped conventially as I was led to believe that plug in boxes were crude?

my boss has got something similar on his landy. it does give him more power, but its certainly crude. it basically fools the ECU into over fuelling. so he does have more power but the thing now drinks diesel.

i think having the ECU remapped is definitely the better option.

I have one on my truck. Have you searched the old threads?

I have done a lot of research into tunning my engine and didnt end up doing anything.

Mainly because those tune in boxed will drink diesel and can ruin your engine in the long run.

Remapping it can also be better as this sucks in the more air I believe , but you have to rememeber that these engines and 4x4 were designed to go to high and low altitudes and so was the engine.

I believe a clean air filter (maybe K&N), clean injectors, clean throttle body, and a bigger waste gate and exhaust as well as a intercooler can get you better gains overall, and will prolong your engine.
