I think you missed my point. Cheese and meat go well together, however
when:
wrapped in musliN (a fine aerated fabric) they would be fine, I agree.
wrapped in musliM (a lady or gentleman follower of Mohammed) they might
not be so palatable....

Thanks for the fuel info and advise. Lessons all learned the hard way!
I've fed the info into my spreadsheet.
Have the LRFT (without secondary protection) and will carry a few
jerries. Intend to carry these in the vehicle and have a few ideas on
how they'll be secured. Roof rack intended for tent and light recovery
gear only.
Sod all this no booze business - I'm considering swapping out my LRFT
for a LRBT - B meaning beer.
Logisticsa and pplanning - yes lots to do.
Haven't looked into navigation yet - but have a compas & heading south
so.....
Good luck for now
Niall
PS - Any problems with your AT overheating?

Niall,
don't be put off by Renate's [Muslim = NO alcohol] equation. It's not
as difficult to get beer as it seems, maybe except Libya and
Mauritania (don't know about the Gulf, though).

Its surprising where one can get booze from in Islamic countries....if you
know where to look...
I'm sure Niall won't be put off at all by what I said - if anything, it'll
make him more resolute....
Cheers

Niall,
I'd stick with the AT's all around.
Get a set of 4 chains to put on the AT's when it gets muddy.
AT's are good overall (I've had several sets and just got a new set of 265/75/16 BFG AT KO's) but not when it gets real muddy.
For sand (bit like 'soft' snow) airing down is the only option 4 help.
This week I was camping for the week on some muddy trials and had my old tires on (now chucked; roadish - AT like tires but worn). I had to put on chains as kept getting stuck. Only put on rear and no issues whatsoever once on. Climbed real easy thru all the thick gooy mud stuff. Used them in both mud and snow and really make a difference (AT's not good in mud once they get clogged).
For 'serious' 4x4ing (as in play) I run my Simex Centipedes 33.5/16 and to be honest I don't think there much better than AT's with chains. However putting chains on/off can be a pain and u can only do a certain speed (<= 30mph)
Lal in Colorado (and this weekend was doing 'some' planning for round-the-world trip - few yrs away so VERY interested in your 'little' trip)
PS someone earlier mentioned all the sunshine in Colorado and its thru (its in the top 5 States in US regd sunshine) but heh - give me some rain anyday :) - Blame my Irish blood!

Alright Lal
RE >Get a set of 4 chains to put on the AT's when it gets muddy.
Good idea. Got a set last year in the hope of needing them in the Atlas
Mountains. They're still in the wrapper!

Will keep you posted so.
Re RTW Trip - Sounds good. Whats your mode of Transport - Planes,
trains and automobiles? I read a story about a man that went across
america on a ride on Lawn Mower to see his brother before he died. Took
him a few months to get there and back. Got the whole forest gump thing
going - people joining him on their ride-ons for a few K's and all that
- takes all sorts....
Cheers
Niall
