8th & 9th Jan laning in Wales

don't Get the 12 hours early then gav

Fantastic Karl. You should be on the stage, mate.

Can anyone else bring wood as well??

No but I can put the axe in. Handy things these forests. Made out of wood.

Anyone got any coal?

Chris

Thas ok cris but i carnt be arsed to collect the wood.

We could do with someone bringing a chainsaw???? Cris?? Have you got one in that aladins cave of yours?

That axe is ace cris. I think gav will have that away on this trip.

karl

Yes, I have a chainsaw, but I am not using it after one of Gav's Irish coffees. Not if I want to keep both my legs. He now has an axe like mine. So I've put both First Aid kits in.

What time are you pushing off from your gaff then Karl?

Cris

PS Don't worry Jon, I shall bring my wallet this time. No need to draw any extra!

Three axes on the go then. I wont have to bring any wood with me ;)

Dont know what time ill be leaving yet cris as ive got to go further down below ponterwyd first to drop my trailer off so i can drag the other truck back with me on the way home. I may as well go down on my own and meet up with everyone there. What time are you thinking of getting to the camp site/car park on friday?

karl

I will shove a bit of wood in the back, i wont bother bringing a chainsaw with all the choppers coming. I intend to come and camp on the Friday if work all goes well and will head off home on saturday night. I can't imagine that sleeping in the motor will inspire me to do it twice. I have a fire basket in one of the sheds that someone left. Makes a good fire and very little mess, I am not bothered but let me know if anyone think its worth bringing.

I should be weighing anchor about 15.00 hours Karl. Plan to get there in around 3.5 hours.

Jon, this is a proper axe. There is only ONE proper axe and I suspect that we are talking about the same ones and they aren't available in B&Q.

I shall be bringing my proper knife too. I doubt that anyone else will have one of these. Not even your good self. It'll be like Show and Tell.

Chris

So you lot going out into the woods to play with Chris, and his special toys (a knife and an axe you dont normally see) and a dash of spirits from gav.

sounds like a helluva a night...

and aren't you lot brave!

Ah but some of them are for twigs and some for trees  only messing and you're right my pocket knife won't match your knife whatever it is I'm sure :)

If my new torch comes we can use that to make sure [strike:2567d0uj]the sacrifice[/strike:2567d0uj] Keith is ok

Ahh, mine is the twig+ model. Not the standing timber version. I use a chainsaw for that. Hey, this is a bit like winches! I only need an axe to cut firewood, but I'll buy a splitting maul instead. It's bound to be better because it's bigger

No, I am only kidding. Don't flip.

By the way, I shall bring my shooting lamp and make all your torches look daft.

Ah now I definately have needed my felling axe, for laning, bit of clearance at my parents and for the last house where someone thought it would be a good idea to fill the back garden with saplings about 70 years ago and then me and my axe came along :) I often wished the 10.5k winch had more power when I was fetching the stumps out

Ach, stumps. I pull them out with my quad. Gotta quad Jon? with a winch, eh? I have a felling axe on my quad.

You know I'm only playing.

Thought you'd have a quad though Jon. :D

Well I've got a couple of old tyres here too so they should help the fire along for a few minutes

It'll certainly be easier to collect a few bits of wood without the snow flying around... It was a nightmare stumbling around the woods with all the various sharp cutting tools & all that whiskey on board...

I might put me chainee in for badness

BTW, gonna be sans refrigor as the inverter install is never going to be done in time  Can I stash some milk in someones fridge?? Or should I just bring the cow along?? (Not the wife before you go to town... :hand: Or she spots this... :shifty: )

No probs Gav. Plenty room in my Waeco once we shift some of the Stella. Running lovely on my new set up.

Chris

Oo, yes, I'll need space for lager too...

The Quest doesn't seem to like the 12v so if it fails to perform with the inverter in place... I'll be cross...

What are you planning to cook this trip then Chris?

The Quest only really maintains a cool on 12v Gav. It will chill on gas or 240, then hold on 12. The instructions do say that and I think I did when I pushed them on here. On gas they're very good. On 240 they'll freeze your Dad's pants.

You had it on gas didn't you?

On the food front, I actually think that I am going to be really lazy. I may have sweet and sour one day (I make this myself and then seal it in a tin - cough) and I might go for another curry - which again I make and seal in a tin  Not sure I need all the trimmings like before. I do have plenty of cheese to go at and some port. Breakfast might just be another custom tinned job. beans, sausages, little bacon pieces, egg nuggets. You get the picture.

Chris

Yes, I remembered that snippet. I chilled it down before the run on 240 but it didn't maintain like I expected it to on 12v. Even chilled all the food/dwinks beforehand... Maybe the 12v is fubar on mine??

I ran it & Matt's on gas at Lincomb & they were fine - I carried the gas bottle arond in the truck for ages thereafter & was going to run it off that in the car probably not a great idea...

Much as I would like to come to this event, I think I am going to have to drop out. See you at the next one.

cheers

ok Reinhard, have you had a verdict on your truck or still waiting to look at it?

That leaves a space free in group 1 if anyone else fancies it.
