Andrew, i like that stove you linked to, nice and portable.
i also dont think its a bad price.
Chris, those tents with the stoves/wood burners inside do look good.
i was watching Ray mears the other day and he had one and was camping in the snow.
So with Lincomb fast approaching, i decided i needed to crack on with this project.
ive been welding all day at work, making some gates for an industrial estate, so decided while id got the MIG welder set up id finish the welding on the pig.
first job was to go grind down the shit ARC welds where the chimney and nuts under the pig were welded on, and re-do them with the MIG.
that done i carried on making the other 2 sections of chimney.
i do love how easy it is to get perfect welds every time when using a MIG.
just a shame the gas bottle rent is such a con.
needed to work out how to mount the hot plate next.
i did really want to weld a strip all the way around the hot plate, and then scribe this to the contour of the pig, but i knew this would be a lot of work, so decided to just use to pieces of flat for now.
im not sure if it will get hot enough, with the edges of the hotplate not being sealed to the pig.
all the legs and chimney sections fit inside perfectly for easier storage and transportation.
need to test it, to see how hot, the hot plate gets. if it all works ok then its ready for a clean up with a wire brush, and then a coat of black high heat spray paint.
i want to buy a nice expensive cut of steak from a decent butchers to christen it with!
