Getting the best from your hand brake

Well then guys, I am still working on this but today I think that I am getting closer. One of the big problems that I have found is that when the hand brake is applied you use all the cable. Which is why I am using these photos from steve as you can clearly see this. Today I fitted some shims...

    4.5 D-4d twin turbo - oil use?

I thought that it was common knowledge that the D4D had issues with injectors etc. There has been a problem with all of them from the Rav4 up. I know that on the smaller D4D's there has been a re-call fro injectors and I know that Local Toyota dealer has even done complete engine changes under...

    Transmogrification of a 90

A bit after the event this, but if you are interested Tony the guys at where I got my Exhaust from (Long Life of Amesbury) make bespoke air cleaner and filter systems. They mainly do them for racing cars but I am talking them into doing something for me that will make the Safari snorkel and Mr...

here in Dorset at the moment it is windy and raining constantly. For me personally I would not mind a restricted weekend as the people and atmosphere are what make it. And may be we could do some extreme recovery and assistance in the woods that are accessible. I would be prepared to do this for...

Olazz, Just a quick thought have the lights been wired up in series instead of parralel, the easiest way to find out is if you were to remove the bulb from one light does the other one go out. If it does then it has been wired up in series and this could be the problem and give you the reading...

    Boot Box in my 95

You are not wrong there the hardest bit was continually earning enough Brownie points with Mrs N to get out to the workshop and, as she saw it, sit down and do nothing  They just don't understand the engineering process, a lot of thinking has to take place before, during and after...

    Boot Box in my 95

It was just the shortest route. I have run a 200 amp cable from the battery side of my winch electronic isolation switch which is on the right hand side of the bulkhead under the bonnet. As the easiest grommets to get to are just underneath that switch to allow access to the cabin it made sense...

Well it has been a long time in coming but at long last I have finished the latest boot boxes for my truck. MOT how to pass

Gents, Today I took the old girl for her MOT and I am pleased to say that she past with no problems. So why tell you that. Well here is the thing, couple of weeks ago the Brake compensator valve spring had snapped. Toyota do not sell the spring as a individual item and I was not going to pay...

Improving brakes in general and braided hoses

By bridging out certain terminals in the diagnostics plug under the bonnet and driving a certain speed over a certain distance the ECU will look at the system and via flash codes using the ABS light let you know what it finds. In my case it noticed a low voltage return from my O/S/F...

Improving brakes in general and braided hoses

Reference your ABS light, That means that the ECU has seen a problem and that it has put it self into a safe mode ie turning the ABS off. When you had your ABS activity was it below about 5mph just as you are comming to a stand? I had a simmaller thing happen on mine but only when on full lock...

No, All you have are the 4 door speakers which as you say make a really good noise. The worst thing about the 'Plain' is the flint....if you are not careful it can be a tyre muncher, make sure you have your spare with you I will be as bold as to say that with this many of us on the plain I would expect to see two or three of us with punctures. Steve

    Over heating

Yep that is the depth that I filled too but I used 10000 cst which is a bit thicker so that may be the reason. I did a lot of reserch and it was a toss up between 7000cst or 10000 cst and it was just the 10000 figure was used more than the 7000 so I plumped for 10000cst. Yes mine is AT and as...
