Hi Pawel,
I had considered a top mounted intercooler with a scoop like the
Subarus, but I think they are a bit too extreme and modifying the
bonnet pushes the costs up even further.
I hadn't actually considered a air-to-water intercooler, I assume that
they would be much smaller, but require another radiator at the front.

Julian,
Looks apart, it's pretty easy to modify the bonnet. A plastic scoop costs a
dozen quid or so. It bolts onto the bonnet and can be painted to match the
bodywork. I agree it gives the car a boy racer flavour, but then you must be
an old git not to want one ;-)

Hi Roman,
I have always favoured the 'wolf in sheep's clothing' approach - I have
never understood the boy racers sticking spoilers, etc on their cars.
Many years ago at college we built a mid engined V8 powered Morris
Minor estate - apart from the twin exhaust pipes tucked up underneath
and the wider than normal tyres on plain rims, you really couldn't tell
the difference.
It's also why I quite like my old SAAB 9000 - an old G reg with
battered paint work but has lovely neutral handling and goes like
stink.
