My Hilux Build

Well Frogs Island couldnt find or source an ARB fitting kit for the bumper i got off them at bargain price, but said they would refund me some cash which is good of them.

Ben has been brilliant and helped me out, he got me a cost for the parts from ARB HQ in Melbourne,
but he also suggested we get hold of the fitting instructions and see what the fitting kit actually contains, since i could get some bits in UK - bolts etc

So Ben got hold of a PDF of the fitting kit instructions and sent it to me today -

and most of the kit is bolts, nuts and washers - no fancy brackets, and the instructions listed the spec and number of bolts etc, so i have ordered these in UK
the lifting eyes, used as recovery loops also easy to buy in UK

the only other thing was the swan-neck towbar hitch for the receiver hitch, but i can also get in UK or USA. and i fancy a drop-place one anyway

so all sorted - thanks so much Ben for the help :icon-cool::happy-bouncyshadow::happy-bouncyshadow::banana-rainbow:

Your welcome mate, I'm glad you got it sorted!

I've finally got internet again so just catching up on all the threads. :icon-biggrin:

It must be so nice working on a new car with no rust and new toys. I'm very envious.

Nice weather for a suspension upgrade

pretty straightforward, with all nuts and bolts nice and easy to remove

vehicle has much better stance now

driver side sitting a couple cm higher at back..
couldn't see any "A" & "B" labelling on the leaf springs... as i have seen on some OME coils in past.

will probably fit some trim packers on passenger side rather than swapping the leafs around
fuel tank is on passenger side...

Today I made an adaptor to allow me to mount bike carrier on receiver hitch

simple to make - but a length of 50mm box steel and welded a 6mm thick plate on end to form a "T-piece"
then drilled holes for my pendle bike carrier mount and hole for locking pin

also fitted recovery point into the hitch,

and then tested kampa geyser shower system with my shurflo pump - works fine
just need to get a shut-off valve for the water pipe before installing it all in canopy

Used my shower at the weekend. Just filled a bucket from the burn and stuck the pick up in. Bloomin lovely. Had a right good fettle. Plenty hot enough. I hope that my new heat exchanger system is as good.

Ahh the old 'bumper dumper'

Poo with a view.

Made a frame and runners for my hot water system unit, this is now plumbed into the pump system via a T-piece splitter so my tap and water heater/shower run off same pump

Added a socket for electrical hookup to feed into my 3-way distribution board in back cab and run my CTEK charger

Added a smartpass to the charging system
drove 80 miles at the weekend in the Hilux and the voltage on leisure battery is higher than it has ever been before 2 days later about 12.9 volts. With the previous relay system it was usually about 12.5v,

made a tray with quickfist clamps, this is to transport our mountain bikes. remove wheels and saddles, flip bikes upside down, and the handlebars go into quickfist clamps and a strap holds the other end the the bike. fits 2 mountain bikes, facing different ways side-by-side

and got myself a sheet of stainless steel and fitted to the tailgate, after cutting off this part of the bedrug.

Done a few more things to Hilux recently, including dinitrol treatment to underbody and chassis
not taken many photos

Fitted a pair of EZDown dampers to the tailgate, these really help with lowering it, especially with extra weight ofthe stainless steel deck. you unlatch the tailgate and let go of it and it lowers on the dampers

close-up of a damper, the retaining strap remains in place too

I also got an Eezi awn K9 table, this takes up most of space in roof of canopy, so i scrapped my hotwater unit runner system. the kampa geyser will have to be lifted out when needed now

table sits on eezi awn roofrack holders

close up of the mount for the table, it slides out of one of side hatches on the canopy
