About to purchase 2006 120 - dealer has provided some blurry underside photos in response to my request for a view on corrosion (no mention at all in history and MOT clean).

Not much to go on I know but would appreciate views on any cause for concern here? Many thanks!

That's what I thought - not able to view as result of distance / transpot / covid etc. WIll ask for better pics. Cheers.

The first two pics look like its a pic of the chassis frame where the fuel tank bash plates are and are the mid section that are probably the best bits of the chassis, you need to look at the front sub-frame area and rear areas that get the worst of the weather thrown at them , the only way to get a proper condition assessment is to have a look in person and if possible take someone with you who has experience to give you an opinion in what you what you want to look at avoiding , if some parts underneath are bad the dealer is not likely to take a pic of it to send to you .

Crap pics yes, but on the whole for a 2006 UK 120 they don't look too bad at all. But Tony is right of course. What isn't he showing you. It's my experience that dealers are utterly baffled when someone asks for something like this. It's just not something they get asked.

If you put your location in your side bar, someone close to it might go and look at it for you. It's what we do on here.

I found buying a 120 that was acceptable rust wise a bit of a challenge a couple of years ago. I looked and refused 9 before I bought the 10th. Not everyone looks underneath I was told a time or two.

This looks promising.
And its local to me and other members.

Thanks for the advice guys - vehicle located in Kent - nr Tunbridge Wells I think. I'm in Cornwall and planning to get it shipped as getting there / back a challenge right now. Full main dealer history, not a single mention of corrosion on mot, 2 owners, 105k. I see what you mean about dealers and undersides, have sent them examples of the angles I'm looking for so hopefully get some better pics back.

So I now have more - not such a pretty picture. Really appreciate an informed view. Cheers.

It doesn't look that bad, the rear axle is the worst of it in them pics but still looks as though it's surface rust that will wire brush off, doesn't look like flaky out of shape lumps.

There doesn't seem to be much paint left in general, that panel with the 2 mesh pieces has no paint, but isn't rusted. You can see in the 1st pic the left main chasis rail, paint gone completely on some of it and paint peeling off the remained of it. Again, doesn't look rusted though. You can see bit of the right chasis rail in the 3rd pic with the spare wheel, to the right of the wheel, seems paintless and flaky paint but not rusted.

If you bought it you'd want to be cleaning the underneath and painting it now to preserve it.

I'm only going by the parts we can see in the pics though obviously. The sills aren't in them pics and if like my 90 series they seem to suffer the worst. But the sills aren't the most expensive to fix, probably the cheapest, as not much stripping to get to them. That's if they even need repairing, they could be fine and just need a clean and painting like them other places in the pics need.

Broadeye it looks like a average 120 at that age , needs a good weekend the sooner the better spent wire brushing and some anti rust treatment thrown on and a good dose of antirust paint , and dont forget to remove the spare wheel and treat the area behind it as thats usually the worst bit . the axle is thick metal so could do with using an angle grinder with a wire brush attachment does good job in quick time . as does doing the chassis with a dill with a wire brush attachment ,remove the bash plates also so you can do both sides , it cost very little to do just your time ,after that like Andy said spay or paint some chain oil on once a year before winter and the 120 will out last you , just did mine this last week I spent 20 hours from start to Finnish and the results are it now looks shinier than it was when it was new . and it gives you great satisfaction knowing its in good nick underneath .
